Training

Our training sessions are presented by fully accredited, highly experienced and qualified trainers who ensure that what they provide is up-to-date in accordance with current trends and research.

Each session is provided FREE to volunteers. If, paid workers wish to attend then a small cost may be charged, please check when booking.

Recognising and Responding to Behaviour

Positive responses to individuals, identifying restrictions and implementing positive instructional methods

The training will cover:

  • History of individuals with complex disabilities
  • Positive behaviour support and responding to complex behaviour
  • Applied behaviour analysis
  • My home- my castle
  • Focusing on maximising opportunity at all times
  • Understanding positive behaviour strategies
  • Identify restrictive practices
  • Follow procedures regarding restrictive practices
  • Ensure you understand and adhere to all plans in place to support

Time:         5.00 pm to 7.00 pm
Cost:          FREE for volunteers, $15.00 for paid staff (receipt provided)
When:        25th March 2019
Where:      Ground level- “Traxion Training”, 17-19 Mt Gravatt Capalaba Road, Upper Mt Gravatt

This is the first time we are organising our training in the evening for those paid staff who can not do training during work hours.

Culture and End of Life

The training will cover:

  • define culture and its impact on lifestyle and world view
  • explore some of the different values, beliefs and attitudes of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people about End of Life
  • identify some issues that can potentially cause misunderstanding
  • explore some strategies to help CALD people at End of Life
