About us……
Our service…
Flexible Living Volunteering Service is part of a national organisation, Community Services Group, which is a large and diverse organisation that provides high-quality and community living supports with a goal of increasing independence, opportunities and community participation for the most vulnerable in our community. The origin of our group commenced from a small community centre over 30 years ago and from this humble beginning, the group’s number and range of our services to the local community has steadily increased.
As part of this group, we support providers of aged care and disability services within the Logan and Beaudesert region as they assist the elderly and people with a disability to live as independently as possible in their own home and the wider community. Our service supports these providers by recruiting and linking people to a suitable volunteer position within the sector as well as, providing the opportunity for students to find host organisations so they can complete the work experience component of their courses.
Our organisation’s mission….
Our mission is to provide responsive and flexible support services and advocacy that enhances the quality of life and independence of the elderly, people with a disability and their carers, meaning that people have the right to:
- live in an environment that supports their choice of lifestyle;
- receive services that link them to the community;
- access to services within their social and physical environment; and
- be treated with dignity and respect.
Our organisation’s values….
Our values serve as a compass for our actions, decisions and behaviours. The organisation exists to serve the needs of the community and individuals through:
- Respect for the Individual;
- Boundless Possibilities;
- Excellence;
- Innovation;
- Passion; and
- Consistency.
Our organisation’s people….
Our people will achieve greatness for our clients and our communities by attracting, recruiting and developing a highly skilled, passionate, innovative and empowered workforce informed by:
- our Practice Framework (how we work);
- our Capability Framework (core expectations); and
- our Competency Framework (learning and development).
Through these frameworks, we ensure that we provide the people we support with the best possible quality of service.
Our service operates within…
Our service operates within quality frameworks and standards which inform us of our workplace practices and processes:
Human Services Quality Framework – this is the Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors quality assurance framework which contains six standards that are applicable to the provision of services within the community.
Aged Care Quality Standards – these standards are contained within the Aged Care Legislation Amendment (Single Quality Framework) Principles (CWLTH) 2018 and apply to aged care providers.
National Disability Standards – these standards help to promote and drive a nationally consistent approach to improving the quality of services by focusing on the rights and outcomes for people with a disability.
National Disability Insurance Scheme Code of Conduct – this applies to all workers and service providers delivering NDIS supports and services, including employees, contractors, students and volunteers. It has been introduced to ensure the safety and well-being of people with disabilities.
