Volunteer Disability Support Worker

Do you have a caring and compassionate nature, enjoy interacting with clients and what to volunteer in a fun environment? Then we NEED YOU!

Logan Central Respite Centre at Slacks Creek are looking for 3 male volunteers to assist with the implementation of a day recreation program for people with disabilities. You will be meeting new people, gain new skills, build confidence and self-esteem and have the opportunity to receive further training.

This position would be suitable for students undertaking a Certificate III in Disability to gain practical experience in the workforce, or for those who have already completed their Certificate III.

Example of what is offered in a day recreation program:

  • doing crafts;
  • assisting at meal times;
  • day outings; and
  • community access visits.

Requirements:

  • some experience in working with people with a disability would be an advantage;
  • be reliable, punctual and have the ability to work as part of a team;
  • good communication skills;
  • be willing to undergo a Criminal History Screening Process; and
  • be able to commit regularly for more than 6 months.

Location: Slacks Creek

Shift Availability: Monday and Friday, 9.00 am to 3.00 pm, shifts are negotiable

Training: Orientation, On-the-Job training, other training as required
